Clear Answer:

No, you cannot hit the wall first (before the ball bounces on the ground) — this is against official FIP padel rules and you lose the point immediately.

The golden rule of padel wall play:

Can I hit the wall first in padel?

Bounce on the ground FIRST, then walls are allowed

Break down all scenarios simply

1. On your own half (receiving the opponent’s shot)

Legal:

Ball lands & bounces once on your court → bounces off back/side glass walls → you hit it back over the net

You can even let it bounce off multiple walls in a row; walls do not count as extra bounces.

Illegal (you lose the point):

Ball flies straight into your glass wall without touching the ground first

2. When you hit the ball toward the opponent’s side

 Legal:

Your shot crosses the net → bounces once inside the opponent’s court → then may hit their walls

 Illegal:

You strike the ball and it hits the opponent’s back/side wall directly, with no ground bounce first

3. Special serve rule

A serve must bounce cleanly inside the service box.

If the serve bounces in the box then hits glass right away, it’s a serve fault.

Quick table for reference

 Short memory tip

Ground before glass, always.
